Slum

2004 年末に活動を休止した「PHI」のSHUJIによるPSYCHEDELIC TRANCEプロジェクト「SLUM」。SHUJIの音楽遍歴は幼児体験でのサイケデリックROCKから始まり、PUNK/HARDCORE/EMOバンドメンバーとしての音源のリリース等を経てTRANCEへと繋がります。SLUMの楽曲は世界を旅するSHUJIが滞在先の秘境、聖地のみならず貧民街、難民キャンプまで上下左右全てを見、全てを感じるというスタンスで取り入れたエッセンスをTRANCE MUSICとして表現した、全ての人々に向けた人生賛歌です。海外からのLIVE PLAYオファーは、ポルトガル「UP DOWN FESTIVAL」、オーストラリアの一万人以上が集まったビッグフェス「EARTHCORE CARNIVAL」など多数。現在までに世界八カ国でPLAYしています。2005年はDJ TSUYOSHIのコンパイルする「FAR EAST PSYTRANCE LEAGUE2005」に楽曲を提供。1st album「MAKE RAINBOW IN YOUR SLUM」はELF MUSICより2005年12月にリリースされました。
　

SLUM is a solo project by Japanese trance scene's favourite, SHUJI. He is a member of PHI who appeared on the scene meteorically last year. He starts again carrying his own project SLUM with thirst and desire for music. PHI's debut album "phinalizer", came out last year, presented new sounds and the album was charted in the top 10 of dance/club music selling chart at major CD stores in Japan. The album also made worldwide success and still continues having wonderful sales as a Japanese-made trance album. With having the album, SLUM did a tour in Europe and was praised highly in Portugal, Austria, Hungary, Czech, and former Yugoslavia. SHUJI, the representative of new generation Trance, started listening to Psychedelic Rock music when he was very young, then formed a rock band and released CDs, and stepped into the psy-trance arena. He travels all over the world and visits unexplored regions, holy places, ghettos, and refugee camps, and expresses what he sees and feels by trance music. Yes, SLUM's music is for everybody, an anthem of life. Characterized by uplifting bass lines, aggressive riffs, and speedy sound, SLUM is often invited to big festivals- Summer Arcade in Japan, Earthcore Global Carnival in Australia etc. SLUM also contributed a track on the compilation album "Far East Psytrance League 2005" which was compiled by DJ TSUYOSHI and was released 2005 summer. His debut album "Make Rainbow in your Slum has just been released in 2006 January.
